Tulum is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Mexico and definitely an archaeological site you just can't miss on your next vacation in Cancun, Playa del Carmen or Riviera Maya.
One of Tulum Mexico's greatest features is its location. Tulum was built by the ancient Mayas on 39-feet high cliffs facing the Caribbean Sea. The combination of well preserved pre-Columbian temples and the ocean-front view makes for a spectacular location where you can take excellent photos.
During your tour through the mayan buildings of this walled city you will learn that Tulum inhabitants used to be responsible for the trade of goods into other cities and settlements in the Yucatan Peninsula, such as Coba and Chichen Itza. Archaeologists have found items that suggest that there were commercial bonds between Tulum Mexico and other prehispanic cities in what is now Central and South America.
Your tour guide at Tulum ruins will also give you interesting information about the religion of the ancient Mayas. AtTulum you'll see temples in honor of the "Descending God" and the "God of the Wind", along with other structures with stucco figures, murals and religious altars. The most notable building in Tulum Mexico (and certainly the most photographed one) is "El Castillo", the tallest structure in the whole city.
We also have to mention Tulum beach, which was once the place where mayan canoes and larger ships docked. Nowadays, with its soft white sand and calm sea waves, it's hard to resist to go down the wooden staircase to take a swim, so bring your bathing suit and a towel (just in case).
Come with us to explore the Tulum ruins! You'll love this half day tour full of interesting information and fun.
